Practical, stylish, timeless – shutters are a great edition to any home and a fantastic alternative to curtains. However, many people are put off buying shutters, as they think they are prohibitively expensive, which isn’t always the case. In fact, our shutters are known to last over 15 years, which makes them a great investment for any property, just how much are shutters?
Generally, you should expect to pay around £150-£300 per square metre, but shutter prices are always going to depend on window size, whether you just want a shutter in the living room or for every window of the house, as well as the shutter style and material you choose.
We take a look at all the factors that will impact on the cost of your shutters and finally answer the question: “how much are shutters?”
Shutter material will affect the cost
Shutters are available in a range of materials, which means there is something to suit all budgets. We avoid using vinyl and cheap plastic shutters, as we believe in providing quality products to all our customers and feel these just don’t hit the mark.
Depending on the material you choose, you may also have the option to choose from a number of different colours and stains. If you want your own custom colour, that will add to the shutter’s cost.
MDF shutters – a great entry level shutter solution
These are not only the cheapest option for window shutters, but they are also durable and sturdy. In addition, they come in a vast range of colours and design options to suit your needs.
We also offer a hybrid MDF & ABS option, which features robust MDF frames and panels with hollow, lighter ABS louvres. Ideal if you like the look of a painted hardwood shutter, but don’t want to pay too much.
Hardwood shutters – for adding a sense of luxury to your home
If you want a touch of luxury in your home, then hardwood shutters are the perfect option. Our range includes teak, Ayous wood, and Paulownia, a fast growing hardwood with an outstanding strength to weight ratio.
Hardwood shutters are more durable than MDF and come in a range of stylish painted colours, stain colours and also shapes.
As hardwood is a more expensive option, we do offer an entry level hardwood version, which features MDF and hardwood panels, so you can get the beauty of hardwood without breaking the bank.
And many of our hardwood shutters are ethically sourced and sustainable, so you’ll know you’re also doing your bit for the environment.
ABS shutters – perfect for when you need a waterproof shutter
If you are looking for shutters for a bathroom, kitchen or wetroom, you need something which is able to cope with humidity and water splashes.
ABS is a fully waterproof material which is a more robust option than cheaper, vinyl shutters and looks amazing! Available in 22 shades and also custom colours, it’s the perfect lightweight and durable option, which isn’t overly expensive.
Aluminium shutters – for when you need added security
Suitable for both inside and outdoor use, these shutters are made from architectural grade aluminium, and look just as good as any of our wooden shutters.
Safety features include a top and bottom guide system that prevents the shutters from being lifted out of their channels, and a patented strip-proof lock.
You can choose from 3 paint colours or opt for a custom colour of your choice.
